Last updated: October 2026 · MizoIPTV support team · the version confusion first, then the setup
The short answer
Install from your device’s official store, choose “Login with Xtream Codes API”, and enter the server URL with its port number. Before that, check which app you actually have: several players ship under near-identical names and icons, and half the “Smarters doesn’t work” reports are really someone using a clone.
Which app do you have?
This is genuinely confusing and nobody explains it, so start here.
| Name | What it is | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters Pro | The mainstream build, Xtream Codes + M3U, full VOD and EPG | This is the one you want |
| IPTV Smarters Player Lite | A cut-down build, sometimes the only one in a given store | Works; fewer features |
| “Smarters” clones | Third-party rebuilds with similar names and icons | Avoid — unpredictable, sometimes ad-laden |
| A provider-branded build | Smarters rebranded by a reseller | Fine if it came from your provider |
How to check: open the app’s settings and look for a version and developer name. If it does not match what your device’s store lists, you probably sideloaded a clone. Reinstall from the official store. If your region’s store carries nothing suitable, the Firestick guide covers the legitimate sideload route.
Installing it
| Device | Where from |
|---|---|
| Fire TV Stick / Fire TV | Amazon Appstore |
| Android phone, tablet, TV box | Google Play Store |
| iPhone, iPad, Apple TV | Apple App Store |
| Windows / Mac | Official desktop build |
| Samsung / LG Smart TV | Not available — use IBO Player Pro |
The login, field by field
On first launch, accept the terms prompt, then pick Login with Xtream Codes API rather than “Load Your Playlist or File/URL”. The API route brings the 7-day guide, the on-demand library and catch-up; a plain M3U usually brings channels only.
- Any Name — a label stored on your device. “MizoIPTV” is fine.
- Username — exactly as issued. Capitals matter.
- Password — the same. Use your phone’s remote app as a keyboard rather than the on-screen grid.
- Server URL — the full address including
http://and the port, for examplehttp://server.address:8080. No trailing slash.
Press Add User. The line-up and guide load in under a minute on a normal connection.
Settings worth changing immediately
- Player Settings → buffer: 2–3 seconds. Low. A big buffer makes channel changes slow and only postpones a freeze.
- Player Settings → decoder: hardware (HW). If the picture tears or audio drifts, try HW+. The right choice varies by device.
- Parental controls. Set a PIN and lock the adult group if children use the TV. This lives in the app, per device, not with us.
- Favourites. Press and hold a channel to add it. Build these on day one.
- Hide unused groups. Most of the list is countries you will never watch.
Finding your way around
The home screen splits into Live TV, Movies, Series and Catch-up. Live TV holds the channels and the guide. Movies and Series hold the on-demand library — search by title rather than scrolling, it is far too large to browse. Catch-up gives you the past few days on supported channels; how that works.
Errors and what they actually mean
| What you see | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “Invalid credentials” | Usually the server URL, not the password | Check http:// and the port are both present |
| Rejected right after ordering | Activation not finished | Activation takes 30 min – 2 h; wait, then retry |
| Channels load, no TV guide | Signed in with M3U | Delete the profile, re-add with Xtream Codes |
| No films or series | Same cause | Same fix |
| Black screen, audio plays | Decoder mismatch | Switch HW / HW+ |
| App crashes on Fire TV | Storage full or overheating | Uninstall unused apps; use the HDMI extender |
| Everything buffers | Not the app | The symptom table |
On several devices
Install it anywhere you like — the app is free and there is no device registration. What is limited is how many play at the same time, which is the device count on your plan. How many you need.
Moving to a new TV
There is no central Smarters account and nothing to transfer. The app stores a local profile per device, so a new TV means entering the same credentials again. Keep them somewhere durable — a password manager or a note — rather than only in the chat they arrived in. Lost them? We reissue in minutes.
Next steps
If Smarters irritates you after a week, TiviMate is the upgrade on Android and Fire TV, and the feature comparison shows what each app can actually do. No credentials yet? Request a trial.
